Grade I winner and Canadian champion Perfect Soul came through with his first winner July 26. His daughter, Classy Gem, won at five furlongs in 1:01 at Assiniboia Downs for Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Bennett in her first start. Bred in Ontario by Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Miller III, Classy Gem is the second winner from two starters from the Dehere mare Classiest Gem. Perfect Soul (Sadler’s Wells—Ball Chairman, by Secretariat) stands at John Phillips’ Darby Dan Farm near Lexington. His 2008 fee was $15,000.
